About this tool

Plan a run or race by solving for whatever you are missing: enter any two of distance, time and pace and this calculator works out the third, in kilometres or miles. It also builds an even-pace split table so you can see your target time at each kilometre or mile marker. Runners use it to set a goal pace, predict a finish time, or check how fast a planned route would be. All the figures are computed in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is pace, and how is it different from speed?

Pace is the time taken per unit of distance — minutes and seconds per kilometre or per mile — so a smaller number is faster. Speed is the opposite, the distance covered per hour, like kilometres per hour. Runners usually think in pace because it maps directly onto a watch: a 5:00 per km pace means each kilometre takes five minutes.

How do I convert a pace between km and miles?

One mile is about 1.609 kilometres, so a per-mile pace is always a larger number than the same effort in per-kilometre terms. To go from minutes per kilometre to minutes per mile, multiply by 1.609; to go the other way, divide. The calculator does this automatically when you switch units, so you can compare without doing the maths by hand.

Will I really run an even pace?

The split table assumes a perfectly steady pace, which is a useful plan but rarely how a real race unfolds — hills, wind, fatigue and pacing strategy all shift your splits. Use it as a target, not a promise, and build up your training sensibly; if you have any heart or health concerns, get medical clearance before hard efforts. Everything is calculated locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
