About this tool

Plug in a controller, press any button, and this gamepad tester springs to life using the browser's Gamepad API. Every button is shown with its live analog value — handy for spotting a sticky or worn trigger — while the axes readout exposes stick drift the moment a thumbstick fails to return to centre. It works with Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers as well as most generic USB or Bluetooth pads. All input is read locally by your browser; nothing about your controller or your button presses is uploaded or shared.

Frequently asked questions

My controller is not detected — what can I do?

Press a button first: for privacy reasons, browsers hide connected gamepads from a page until you provide some input. If nothing appears, reconnect the cable or re-pair Bluetooth, try another USB port, and close other games or configuration tools that may be claiming the pad. Some third-party controllers must be switched to XInput mode to be recognised. Finally, test in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge or Firefox, since gamepad support in less common browsers varies.

How do I check for stick drift?

Let go of both sticks and watch the axis values. At rest they should sit near 0.00; a tiny flutter within roughly ±0.05 is normal sensor noise that games hide with a dead zone. A stick that constantly reports a larger offset, or settles at some value after you release it, has genuine drift. Also rotate each stick slowly through a full circle — the values should sweep smoothly from -1 to 1 without jumps or dead spots.

Is any of my controller data sent anywhere?

No. The Gamepad API delivers button and axis states straight to this page inside your browser, and the tool only draws them on screen — nothing is recorded, uploaded or shared, so feel free to mash every button. It is also useful to know that analog inputs such as triggers report values from 0 to 1, letting you verify they travel through their full range and spring cleanly back to zero.
