Frequently asked questions
How does a capo change the key?
A capo raises the pitch of every string by one semitone for each fret it covers, so the same shapes sound higher. Put it on the second fret, for instance, and a C shape sounds as a D.
Where should I put the capo to play in a hard key?
The calculator finds a fret where familiar open shapes produce the key you need β so a song in E flat might become easy C or G shapes with the capo on the right fret, keeping the original pitch.
