About this tool

Record your voice, an instrument or a quick memo without installing anything: this recorder captures audio from your microphone entirely inside the browser. Pause and resume mid-take, listen back straight away, and download the file when you are happy with it. The key point is privacy — the recording is held in your browser's memory and never uploaded, so nothing you say ever leaves your device. There are no accounts, time limits or watermarks; open the page, allow the microphone once, and press record.

Frequently asked questions

What audio format do I get when I download?

The format is chosen by your browser's built-in MediaRecorder. Chrome, Edge and Firefox typically produce WebM with the Opus codec (Firefox may label it .ogg), while Safari records MP4/AAC. All of these play in modern players and import into most editors; if a particular app rejects the file, converting it to MP3 or WAV with any audio converter takes seconds. The recorder does not re-encode your audio, so you keep exactly the quality the browser captured.

I denied microphone access by mistake — how do I re-enable it?

Once denied, the browser will not ask again on its own; you need to reset the permission. On desktop, click the padlock or tune icon to the left of the address bar, find Microphone and switch it to Allow (or Reset), then reload the page. In Safari go to Settings → Websites → Microphone. On mobile, permissions live in the browser's site settings or, on iOS, under Settings → the browser app. After reloading, press record and accept the prompt.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere or kept after I leave?

No. The microphone stream is captured and stored only in your browser's memory on your own device; there is no server upload, no analytics on the audio and no hidden copy. When you close or reload the tab, an unsaved recording is gone for good — so download anything you want to keep before leaving. This makes the tool suitable for sensitive material like meeting notes, song ideas or voice memos you would rather not hand to a cloud service.
