Will resizing reduce the quality of my image?
Making an image smaller keeps it looking crisp, since you are discarding pixels you no longer need. Enlarging beyond the original size cannot add real detail, so it will look softer. The quality slider for JPEG and WEBP also lets you trade a little sharpness for a much smaller file.
How do I resize without stretching the image?
Keep the aspect-ratio lock enabled and set just the width or the height; the other dimension is calculated automatically so the picture is never stretched or squashed. Unlock it only when you deliberately want a non-proportional size.
