About this tool
This GPA calculator works out your weighted grade point average on a 4.0 scale from the courses you took. Enter each course with its letter grade and number of credit hours, and it weights every grade by its credits to give an overall GPA, not just a simple average. It all runs in your browser, so you can try different what-if grades freely.
Frequently asked questions
How is a weighted GPA calculated?
Each letter grade is converted to grade points on a 4.0 scale, for example A is 4.0 and B is 3.0. Every course contributes its grade points multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the total credits, so a heavier course moves your GPA more than a one-credit elective.
Does it match my school's grading scale?
It uses the common United States 4.0 mapping, but schools differ on details like plus and minus grades or extra weight for honors and AP classes. Check the official scale published by your school and adjust the grade points if it assigns them differently.
Are my grades sent anywhere?
No. Your courses and grades are processed only in your browser, so nothing you enter is sent to or stored on a server.
