A 6-in-12 pitch means the roof rises 6 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. That is the same as an angle of about 26.6 degrees and a 50 percent grade, and this tool converts freely between all of those forms.
How do I measure my roof pitch?
Hold a spirit level horizontally against the roof, measure 12 inches along it, then measure straight down from the level to the roof surface. That drop in inches is your rise in the x-in-12 format. If your phone has an inclinometer, you can instead read the angle and type it in.
