About this tool

Find the true price of a sale with this discount calculator, which shows the final amount after a percentage is taken off along with exactly how much you save. Enter the original price and the discount, and you can stack a second or third reduction — such as an extra coupon on a sale item — to see how successive percentages combine. It is ideal for clearance shopping and comparing real value between offers. The math is done instantly in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.

Frequently asked questions

How are stacked discounts calculated?

Stacked discounts multiply rather than add. A 20 percent discount followed by a further 10 percent does not equal 30 percent off: the second cut applies to the already reduced price, so you pay 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 of the original, a 28 percent total saving. The calculator applies each percentage in turn to the running price, which mirrors how most checkout coupons actually behave.

Where does sales tax fit in?

This tool works on the marked price before tax. Depending on where you shop, sales tax or VAT may be added at the till, and some discounts apply before tax while others apply after, which shifts the final figure slightly. The result is an estimate for general information, not financial advice, so check the receipt for the exact amount your retailer charges.

Is anything I enter uploaded?

No. Prices and discount rates are handled entirely by code running in your browser, so the numbers you type are never sent to or stored on a server. You can compare as many offers as you like in private, and reloading the page clears every value at once.
