What do the Roman numerals mean?
A chord progression is just an ordered series of chords, and Roman numerals name each chord by its position in the key rather than by its letter. In C major, I is C, IV is F and V is G; capital numerals mean major chords and lower-case ones, like ii or vi, mean minor. Writing progressions this way lets you move the same pattern into any key instantly.
How do I use a progression in my own song?
Pick the key that suits your voice or instrument, generate a progression, and use it as the harmonic backbone to write a melody or lyrics over. The chords are synthesised on the spot by the Web Audio API rather than loaded as recordings, and browsers only allow that audio to start after you interact with the page.
