How do I work out a percentage increase or decrease?
Enter the original value and the new value, and the calculator finds the change as a percentage of the original. A rise from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase, while a drop from 100 to 80 is a 20% decrease β the base is different, so the two are not the same.
What is the difference between percent and percentage points?
A percentage point is the plain arithmetic gap between two percentages, while a percent change is relative. Going from 10% to 15% is a rise of 5 percentage points, but a 50% increase. This tool calculates the relative percentage change.
